Mexican crude ports Pajaritos and Cayo Arcas reopen as weather clears
The Mexican crude-loading ports of Pajaritos and Cayo Arcas reopened to shipping late Monday as high winds and heavy seas eased in the southern Gulf of Mexico, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation reported. Pajaritos is also Mexico’s leading petrochemicals port. Still closed were the other Gulf Coast crude-loading port, Dos Bocas, and Salina Cruz.
Terminal loading suspended after platform fire
Loading at the Caryo Arcas Terminal is suspended until further notice, following a fire on at the Abkatun Permanente production platform in Mexico's Gulf of Campeche. At least four people are reported to have died and up to 45 were injured when a fire broke early on Wednesday, sparking the evacuation of around 300 workers. Loading underway at the terminal was completed after there was found to be sufficient product in undamaged lines. However, once completed, loading was again suspended.
Mexico’s Cayo Arcas, Dos Bocas oil ports closed due to bad weather
Two of Mexico’s major crude oil export hubs along the country’s Gulf coast were closed due to bad weather, the communications and transport ministry said. The ministry said that the Cayo Arcas port has been shut since Sunday afternoon, while the Dos Bocas hub was closed on Monday morning (Sept. 01).
